Deload week run #4 - hilly long run. Deload week long runs are usually shorter than most of my regular week easy runs, but that’s no excuse for taking it too easy.

Great route, super hilly, just the way I like it. Although the pace was dialled back I still worked on form for climb and descent.

Nearly time for a new pair of shoes, think I’ll@have another pair of Suoerblasts as they compliment the Megablast well. Got me thinking do you buy the same colourway or switch out to a different one so it makes it seem like you have something new in the rotation?

Consistency is the key to hill repeats. 2 months ago I introduced a hill specific plyometric session into the weekly programme, along with strength training with Coach @steve_middleton_lowes, and working on my hill climbing and descent form too.

Each repeat was strong and consistent, I’m running this hill faster and certainly more efficiently nailing the pace on the last rep 💪

Tonight’s easy run—just me, the road, and the quiet—wrapped up another week of training. And the whole time, one question kept echoing in my mind: what’s next?

When cancer ripped the running shoes off my feet, there were moments I truly wondered if I’d ever lace them up again. But somehow, step by step, I found my way back. And when I did, I came back with fire—determined to support others walking the same terrifying path, determined to save lives.

I set out to raise £10,000 for cancer and mental health charities… and somehow we smashed through £15,000. And I’m nowhere near done.

I dreamed up wild, impossible solo ultras… then went out and made them real. And along the way, so many of you chose to join me—supporting, cheering, donating, believing. You’ve been part of every mile.

The awareness campaign grew legs of its own. From TV, radio, newspapers, podcasts—millions of eyes and ears reached. And I know, without a doubt, it has made a difference. I’ll keep pushing until it reaches millions more.

Now my mind is drifting toward 2026. Ideas are forming—big ones, meaningful ones. Runs that scare me a little. Runs that could keep changing lives. And there’s one in particular that I feel in my bones for 2026.

So tonight’s run was about more than miles.
It was about vision.
About purpose.
About daring to imagine the next outrageous chapter of this journey.

And trust me… it’s going to be something special.

What’s next?
Tonight’s easy run—just me, the road, and the quiet—wrapped up another week of training. And the whole time, one question kept echoing in my mind: what’s next?

Weeks long run completed. Plan called for hilly at a relaxed pace, and that was what I delivered. Good to not have any real pace targets today.

Saturdays long run in the bag. Progressive, hilly 14mi.

Despite my left achilles still grumbling, it’s never been right since I rolled on my foot back in April, that was a cracking run hitting every target and pushing up the hills and a form focussed downhills.

The run increased intensity every 2.5mi, as it was hilly I was working on RPE between 6-7.

Saturdays long run in the bag. Progressive, hilly 14mi.

Despite my left achilles still grumbling, it’s never been right since I rolled on my foot back in April, that was a cracking run hitting every target and pushing up the hills and a form focussed downhills.

The run increased intensity every 2.5mi, as it was hilly I was working on RPE between 6-7.

Pre sunrise Plyometric session. Over a month now since I introduced this to my training, it’s designed around driving more efficiently uphills, and if last nights hill repeats session is anything to go by then it’s have a positive impact.

Form is better, energy through the repeats improved and less pressure on hips/knees.

Hill repeats in the dark, probably the best way I’ve decided as you can’t see the hill aswell! If you’ve followed for any amount of time you’ll know hill repeats day is one of the best in the week for me, the satisfaction from a hard, heart thumping session can’t be beaten.

Tonight’s format was
🔥 1.9mi WU
🔁 60s x7 + 30s x7 repeats
🥶 1.5mi CD

The 60s repeats were at
7.45, 7.57, 8.33, 8.06, 8.04, 8.03, 8.16 min/mi

And the 30s all in the mid to low 7min/mi

First hill repeats session in the Hoka Mach 6, used the Mach 5 to this point which I absolutely love. The 6 is even better, light, responsive and want to move. I’ll be using this shoe on hill sessions from now on.

Before and after photos show how dark it got, on the warm up to the hill I lost all light. But thanks to my @fenixlight I could see the road ahead.

An incredible way to wrap a highly memorable year. I set out to run 4 amazing ultras to support those diagnosed with cancer. Having been on that journey myself in the last few years.

The year ended in a way I could never have imagined. After my 50K round London visiting 18 Krispy Kreme stores the team at @krispykremeuk stunned me. They matched 💯 of what I’d fundraised this year, taking my total to £4400.

I’m cried at the news, the difference that makes to cancer patients is remarkable. This year we’ve been able to

Cheeky! Probably not the way you should taper for a 50K at the weekend but as I’ve thrown a curve ball at Runna and snuck in a 50K when it wasn’t scheduled I shouldn’t really be surprised by today’s run.

5K time trail is what @runna called it, pushing the pace into RPE 8/9. Session format was:

It should be a deload week. But I’ve other plans.

Kicked off week 9 of the block with a sunrise hill repeats session. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time you’ll know I love hills, literally love them. So today couldn’t have started any better.

Next week has hill repeats Tuesday, a 5K time trial Thursday then it’s off to London for my self-designed 50K. I have to thank @krispykremeuk for being amazing in their support for this run and cannot wait to see so many of the team at the stores I’ll visit along the way.

As storm Benjamin is headed our way later I opted to get today’s easy miles done on the treadmill. Quick 4mi, great to catch up with a few other early risers in the gym, that’s another benefit of a treadmill run is you get a quick social in too.

Daybreak hill repeats, building strength and endurance into the legs. One of my favourite sessions and a perfect way to start a day, bonus today was watching the sunrise.

At the top of my 60s repeats the lungs were gasping for air, the heart pounding hard. Success.
