Andy Hood to Take on “Run for the Glaze” – A Krispy Kreme Run Fueling Cancer Awareness Across London

London, UK – April 2026 – Endurance runner Andy Hood has announced the return of Run for the Glaze, a bold and unconventional Krispy Kreme run set to take place on May 9th, 2026. Covering more than 50 kilometres, surpassing the distance of the London Marathon, this ultra endurance challenge will see Hood navigate the busy streets of the capital while stopping at 20 Krispy Kreme locations along the way.

Unlike traditional races, Run for the Glaze takes place entirely on open roads, with no closures or controlled conditions. From crowded pavements to heavy weekend traffic, the route presents a unique and demanding test of stamina, focus, and resilience. Each stop adds another layer of difficulty, forcing the body to repeatedly cool down and restart over the course of the day.

“This isn’t just about distance,” said Hood. “It’s about the constant stop-start, the crowds, and the unpredictability of London on a Saturday. It’s one tough run, but it’s all for a meaningful cause.”

The concept for Run for the Glaze was first created by Andy Hood in 2024 as a way to capture public attention and channel it into cancer awareness and fundraising. The event returned in 2025 with growing support, including backing from Krispy Kreme. Following a live on-stage invitation at the brand’s national conference, Hood committed to bringing the challenge back again in 2026.

The planned route begins and ends at the Oxford Street Krispy Kreme store, looping through key London locations including Baker Street, Paddington, White City, Hammersmith, Fulham, Putney, Wandsworth, Clapham, Victoria, Waterloo, Canary Wharf, Liverpool Street, and Fleet Street.

At the heart of Run for the Glaze is a deeply personal story. Andy Hood was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2021, a life-changing moment that reshaped his outlook and purpose. He openly admits that, like many men, he had never checked himself, until a simple but powerful nudge from Jeremy Clarkson prompted him to take action. That moment proved pivotal. Now, Hood carries that baton forward, using his platform to raise awareness and encourage others to check themselves early, helping to prevent late diagnoses and save lives.

“I hadn’t checked myself before my diagnosis,” Hood said. “Testicular cancer can affect men from their teens onwards, yet awareness is still too low. If this run gets even one person to check themselves earlier, it’s worth it.”

Through this year’s Krispy Kreme run, Hood is raising funds for ChemoHero, a charity that supports individuals at the start of their cancer treatment. Founded by Lisa Wallis, ChemoHero provides “Boxes of Kindness” containing essential and comforting items for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Each box costs approximately £80 to assemble, and Hood’s goal is to raise £2,000, enough to fund 25 boxes for people facing cancer treatment. Krispy Kreme will be matching every donation, doubling the amount raised.

“The value of these boxes goes far beyond what’s inside them,” Hood explained. “They represent care, support, and reassurance at a time when people need it most.”

Supporters can follow Andy Hood live on May 9th via a GPS tracking link shared on social media. Members of the public are also encouraged to join sections of the route, show their support in person, or simply stop by for a doughnut along the way.

Run for the Glaze uniquely brings together Krispy Kreme’s “Boxes of Smiles” and ChemoHero’s “Boxes of Kindness” in a powerful demonstration of community, resilience, and purpose.
