The Great Doughnut Run 2025
Back in London running to 18 Krispy Kreme stores
Returning to London. Returning to Krispy Kreme. Returning to Dessert Fuelled Run
Back in 2024, I had a moment of inspiration—the kind of inspiration that usually happens after too much caffeine and not enough common sense. I decided to combine two of my great loves: running long distances and eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Not just any doughnuts—the doughnuts. The ones that make you forget your own name for a moment.
That first run was an absolute blast. I met fantastic people, inhaled multiple doughnuts (strictly for athletic fuel, of course), raised awareness for cancer support, and fundraised for an amazing charity. Naturally, like any rational human, I started thinking, “Hey, let’s do that again… but make it harder.”
So in 2025, I wanted something fresh. Something bold. Something that made Google Maps sweat.
Since my 2024 escapade, Krispy Kreme had opened a shiny new flagship store on Oxford Street—practically begging to be the start and finish line of my next doughnut-fuelled ultra. I mapped a route taking in 18 stores and just over 50 kilometres. Then I emailed Krispy Kreme to ask, “Can I run to all your shops again?” Their response was instant—like they’d been waiting for someone ridiculous enough to ask.
“YES. PLEASE DO.”
And so the 2025 edition was on.
This route was a totally different beast. London’s busiest tourist zones? Check. Herds of humans drifting unpredictably like caffeinated sheep? Check. Quieter stretches, like Canary Wharf and the cobblestoned ambush that is Wapping? Check and check. Each Krispy Kreme store had its own vibe—same glorious doughnuts, but different locations and people making each stop memorable.
Working with Krispy Kreme was a joy. Their team’s energy, passion, and love of fun made the lead-up feel like I was training for the Dessert Olympics. Social media hype flowed. Josh led the charge with enough enthusiasm to power the London Eye. Rachel, Head of Customer Experience, somehow coordinated the logistics of an overheated runner bursting through 18 doors without scaring the entire staff. A miracle.
After hobbling across the finish line, I was greeted by my good friend and fellow runner Vicky. Perfect timing, perfect person, perfect moment—especially because by then I was held together emotionally by doughnuts, duct tape, and sheer stubbornness.
Then Rachel hit me with the news: Krispy Kreme would be matching every pound raised for ChemoHero and Macmillan. Their generosity floored me. Actual tears.
Possibly sweat, but mostly tears.
And that wasn’t the end.
In early December, I was invited to speak at their national conference for a fireside chat—talking about resilience, cancer, mental toughness, and whatever wisdom I’ve scraped together while running around London eating pastries. Then, live on stage, the team asked the big question:
“Will you run again in 2026?”
So yes. You can expect another gloriously unhinged Completed Ultras post next year. I’m honoured—and slightly terrified.
And trust me… there’s more exciting news on the way. Keep an eye on my socials. The fun is just getting started.
