Week 11 is a wrap and what a way to wrap it. The 12K group run with the @clublasantagreenteam led today by @benoitkindt & Kelly, taking in an enjoyable few gravel miles.

This, for me, is what running is about. Making connections and enjoying a moment.

I was delighted to be invited to the @krispykremeuk Conference last December, where I had a fireside chat with @rachycorky talking, running, resilience, recovery and doughnuts (of course!) After the chat one of the store managers came to say hi, talking about the doughnut run I did in 2024 where I ran to 20 of their London stores.

He showed me a photo on his phone of me at his store, us both smiling together. I loved that moment for the fact this meant something to him, it brought something to his day which has remained with him and I loved the fact we shared lots of laughs and smiles.

For me. This is what running is about. It’s about the people I meet and the moments we create.

Hitting some local trails on Lanzarote with the @kailasfuga EX330, a trail shoe I hope to take to @arcofattritionbyutmb this year.

I saw these guys at UTMB in Chamonix this year and was intrigued by the shoe, then followed Loyd from @run4adventure.uk as he tested them on the channel.

It wasn’t easy getting a pair of these as there doesn’t appear to be a UK distributor at the moment. The Vibram outsole looks insane, hope the performance is as good as the looks.

Hitting some local trails on Lanzarote with the @kailasfuga EX330, a trail shoe I hope to take to @arcofattritionbyutmb this year.

All eyes 👀 are on the weather for ARC which currently looks wet with plenty of rain leading up to it. That will make for muddy trails. I may be grateful for the grip on the @kailasfuga EX330’s.

There are runs you do just because they are in the programme and need to be completed. That was today’s run. Hilly, progressive and not at all enjoyable!

The format was progressive, I opted for RPE rather than pace as a measure seeing as it was a hilly route. Hitting 8.08/mi on one of the 2mi hilly intervals, that was some moving, especially with a strong head winds.

I’d had enough of the 50+mph headwind and just wasn’t feeling the run at all, so binned of the final 2mi CD and instead opted for a protein shake and banana at home!

I don’t usually do winter ultras in the UK, however Arc is close to home, I know a lot of people doing it and I’m only doing the what I’ve now termed Baby Arc as a 100 at this time of year doesn’t interest me. Winter is usually when I give the body a bit of rest and go into a maintenance programme ready to ramp it up early in the new year for a spring ultra.

I still find my body gets tired and needs some rest, a result of coming through cancer I expect. I’ll plan the post Arc recovery carefully to give myself some downtime.

Tough session today with 15 x 60s repeats. Despite it being a hard one all the work of the last few weeks, along with Plyometric sessions and strength training is paying off, legs are strong and repeats are faster and more controlled.

2025 finishes with an easy 5mi on the rail trail. Week 9 Day #2 of the @arcofattritionbyutmb programme, pace was a little ahead of the conversation pace it should have been, a combination of feeling good and the Megablasts meant I had to keep reminding myself to slow down.

2025 finishes with an easy 5mi on the rail trail. Week 9 Day #2 of the @arcofattritionbyutmb programme, pace was a little ahead of the conversation pace it should have been, a combination of feeling good and the Megablasts meant I had to keep reminding myself to slow down.

I set out to be open about testicular cancer, to get men talking, checking and being open. And close the year having achieved that.

Legs are feeling heavy today, for no apparent reason, thankful for it being a deload phase now. Think I need to find a new trail shoe for easy runs, the Speedgoat is good but lacks the energy return of newer compound shoes like the @kailasfuga 330’s.

When I came back to running after my testicular cancer diagnosis, operation and chemotherapy I made a promise to support others through awareness and fundraising. Setting a goal to reach £10,000 raised.

That goal has been well and truly smashed!

It’s the support of family and friends, near and far that have got me to over £25,000 raised for charities including @chemohero @macmillancancer @oddballsfdn @alzheimerssoc @youngmindsuk and many more.

In 2026 I’ve set myself the goal to reach £30,000.

Christmas week is a running deload week but that doesn’t mean I let up in the overall training. Up before daybreak for a plyometric session @platform_gym_and_fitness18
