We’re in the taper for @arcofattritionbyutmb W11 kicks off with a shorter tempo run, which despite the darkness and rain, felt fantastic.

At this point in the programme you should be feeling strong and controlled, the 3mi segment at 7.10min/mi was dialled in perfectly, I knew I was working but the legs were happy, the heart under control and effort spot on.

The rest of this week has a tempo run tomorrow, hill repeats Friday, a relaxed 9mi Saturday and a few easy miles Sunday.

All eyes 👀 are on the weather for ARC which currently looks wet with plenty of rain leading up to it. That will make for muddy trails. I may be grateful for the grip on the @kailasfuga EX330’s.

There are runs you do just because they are in the programme and need to be completed. That was today’s run. Hilly, progressive and not at all enjoyable!

The format was progressive, I opted for RPE rather than pace as a measure seeing as it was a hilly route. Hitting 8.08/mi on one of the 2mi hilly intervals, that was some moving, especially with a strong head winds.

I’d had enough of the 50+mph headwind and just wasn’t feeling the run at all, so binned of the final 2mi CD and instead opted for a protein shake and banana at home!

There are runs you do just because they are in the programme and need to be completed. That was today’s run. Hilly, progressive and not at all enjoyable!

Out for some dark miles on the rail trail. 6mi easy pace, sandwiched between Fridays hill repeats and Sunday’s progressive hilly long run.

My 2026 is still taking shape, I’ve definitely got some interesting doughnut related running coming up later this year and I’m out in Chamonix for UTMB week to explore some trails I’ve not been on before, some inspired by Loyd @run4adventure.uk who I hope to tempt out for a run or two.

The rest of my 2026 is still a little up in the air.

November was the @rctcharity Big Ballsy 100, a 100K virtual focussed on…you guessed it BALLS!

I completed over 250K on this virtual and had a blast doing it.

I don’t usually do winter ultras in the UK, however Arc is close to home, I know a lot of people doing it and I’m only doing the what I’ve now termed Baby Arc as a 100 at this time of year doesn’t interest me. Winter is usually when I give the body a bit of rest and go into a maintenance programme ready to ramp it up early in the new year for a spring ultra.

I still find my body gets tired and needs some rest, a result of coming through cancer I expect. I’ll plan the post Arc recovery carefully to give myself some downtime.

Tough session today with 15 x 60s repeats. Despite it being a hard one all the work of the last few weeks, along with Plyometric sessions and strength training is paying off, legs are strong and repeats are faster and more controlled.

My year ahead is not fully defined yet, there will be some exciting stuff with @krispykremeuk coming up, once that has taken shape I look forward to sharing the details with you. They are so cool to work with.

Today has been brilliant for media coverage with my @check.ya.balls underwear range getting some great coverage, if you’ve not got a pair yet head to my website (link in BIO) and get a pair of the ultra comfy boxers that have a serious message attached to them.

I set out to be open about testicular cancer, to get men talking, checking and being open. And close the year having achieved that.

Thank you to everyone that has been a part of my 2025, it’s been highly emotional, exhilarating, energetic and entertaining. I close the year on an overall fundraising total of over £25,000 and an appetite so big for the future.

Legs are feeling heavy today, for no apparent reason, thankful for it being a deload phase now. Think I need to find a new trail shoe for easy runs, the Speedgoat is good but lacks the energy return of newer compound shoes like the @kailasfuga 330’s.

Hill repeats on Christmas Eve. Fantastic session with every repeat in the 6min/mi had the pace on point feeling strong throughout.

When I came back to running after my testicular cancer diagnosis, operation and chemotherapy I made a promise to support others through awareness and fundraising. Setting a goal to reach £10,000 raised.

That goal has been well and truly smashed!

It’s the support of family and friends, near and far that have got me to over £25,000 raised for charities including @chemohero @macmillancancer @oddballsfdn @alzheimerssoc @youngmindsuk and many more.

In 2026 I’ve set myself the goal to reach £30,000.

Christmas week is a running deload week but that doesn’t mean I let up in the overall training. Up before daybreak for a plyometric session @platform_gym_and_fitness18

Now 3 months since I introduced these sessions to my weekly programme and the benefits are clear. The particular session I do is focused on hill climbing, both hill repeats and hilly runs are improving in efficiency and power.

The session includes 2 sets of

But I kick off the year with ARC, in the summer I’m in Chamonix for UTMB week and I am so excited to plan a Doughnut Run with @krispykremeuk - cannot even express how much I love working with those guys 🍩❤️
